Chances are if you’ve celebrated St Patrick’s Day in Metro DC, you’ve heard of Elliot in the Morning’s infamous “Kegs and Eggs” celebration. Fans of the Irish holiday, rock music and weekday drinking unite for a morning of bands, brews and best of all free entry.
This past Saturday, one of the biggest St. Patrick’s Day events in the area occurred. The city of Alexandria held its annual parade, complete with bagpipes, floats and enough Irish joy for every attendee. But if you missed the parade, don’t worry, St. Patrick’s Day isn’t for another two weeks, on Saturday, March 17th and there are a number of other local ways to celebrate.
Today marks one week until one of America’s most celebrated holidays, a day when just about everyone exudes a little Irish — St Patrick’s Day, of course! And while the best way to celebrate would be to hop on a plane to Dublin, there’s no reason you can’t enjoy the holiday locally. St. Patricks’s Day might be known best for boisterous revelry, but it can still be fun for everyone, young or old.
